Session 9

Short description of the session: 

Watching the video + evaluation (we’ll use the rubric we have used to create the video to evaluate our partner school’s creation).  

Adding captions and subtitles in Chinese and Catalan to broadcast in their learning community

 

Materials needed:

Task 1: Description (what students will do): Watch the Video from the partner school and make a discussion about what they did well and what they could improve.

Purpose: Help students to make an overview of what they have learned in the whole semester and train their speaking ability.

Allotted time: 15 mins

Grouping: work as the whole class

Verification: (steps to check student understanding)

 

Task 2: Description (what students will do) According to the rubrics provided, students should work as a group to evaluate the video they have watched in Task 1 from every aspect and provide the complete evaluation including some comments using Google Doc.

Purpose: Help students to work with others and train their ability to assess others’ work, and train their speaking ability, as well as writing ability.

Allotted time: 15 mins

Grouping: Discuss as a group of 3-5, writing the evaluation passage as the whole class.

Verification: (steps to check student understanding)

 

Task 3: Description (what students will do): Adding the corresponding captions and subtitles of videos from another partner school. (For example, adding the Chinese captions and subtitles to the video made by catalonia students.)

Purpose: This could help with the social influence of this video and help more people to respect their appearance and figure. 

Allotted time: 30mins 

Grouping: The video would be divided into several parts. Each group will add the captions to specific time period. Then other groups will check the captions and subtitles after all the students complete their own part.
