
Session 8
Short description of the session:
This session is devoted to recording the video. Since students will have discussed in the previous sessions the tasks that they must complete during this session, the introduction can be short, so that more time can be devoted to recording the video.
Fast finishers can start writing the subtitles they are going to add to the commercial. There would be several groups, including two groups focusing on the beauty of people, such as celebrities, two groups for natural beauty and one group for the beauty standard in history represented by artistic works, including paintings and sculptures.
Materials Needed:
Task 1: For group focusing on human beauty, students could record some people that they think fitting beauty standards and could also interview some teammates about the change of their views about beauty standard before and after the study of the whole project, or even record some opinions of beauty standards of other people, and put some comments about others’ opinions. (Because students may need to interview some strangers, one instructor should accompany during the whole process.)
Purpose: Help students to overview what they have learned, communicate with different kinds of people and train their ability of camera shooting and editing videos.
Allotted time: 50 mins
Grouping: Two groups focusing on human beauty
Verification: (steps to check student understanding) Their outcome video
Task 2: For group focusing on natural beauty, students could record some scenes in their school that they think is beautiful and come up with the reasons why they choose them. Also, they could search for some pictures about the world-renowned scenic spots and compare with the normal beautiful places in order to show their ability to explore beauty even in familiar places. (Because students may need to go to the playground or place out of school, one instructor should accompany during the whole process.)
Purpose: Help students learn to explore beauty even in familiar scenes and train their ability of camera shooting and editing videos.

Task 3: For group focusing on artistic beauty, students could overview what they have learned in session four. Also, they could design the video showing the transformation of beauty as time goes by, with the purpose of presenting evidence that there are not immutable beauty standards.
Purpose: Help students learn to better use the internet and train their ability of camera shooting and editing videos.
Allotted time: 50 mins
Grouping: One groups focusing on artistic beauty

Task 4: All the students could work as a whole class to make the ending of advertisement.
Purpose: Help students to overview what they have learned over the whole project.
Allotted time: 10 mins

Closure:
Instructors may gain five different parts of the videos from groups of students and one ending. Before the next session, instructors should combine the clips with each other and create the complete one as the final outcome for one school.
